Indicative values. Power limits vary from one European country to another.Further informationReduce
All values provided by these calculators are given for information purposes The quality of the equipment, wear and tear and the conditions of use vary the results.
Power limits, minimum commitment distances and safety rules depend on the country, association, insurance and land. Only the rules of the organizer and the measurement to his chronograph are authentic.
In case of doubt, seek advice from a qualified technician. Airsoft Companion declines responsibility in the event of a problem, malfunction or breakage occurring after the use of these tools.
Units and currency
FPS / Joule
Convert the speed of your balls to energy and vice versa, and check your replica against the limit of your terrain.
Enter one of the two values: the other is calculated. The one you entered last remains fixed if you change the ball.
The weight used for measurement. Depending on the country and terrain, the chronograph takes place in 0.20 g or with your ball.
The limits vary according to country, association, insurance and terrain, and often according to the category of reply: report that of the organizer. For a limit in fps, equivalences are given with a ball of 0.20 g.

Power benchmarks are indicative and deliberately broad: no limit is common to all Europe. In some countries, the law also sets a maximum power for the sale or possession of a replica, regardless of the rules of the land.
Only the organizer's chronograph is authentic: always measure your replica before playing.
Battery autonomy
Estimate the number of balls per charge based on your battery, engine and daily temperature.
- Compliant : Maximum discharge 30 A (margin 15 A)
- Continuous shooting
- 4 min
- Constantly depressed
- Power
- 167 W
- Useful capacity
- 960 mAh
- 80% capacity: you never empty a LiPo
Estimated in sustained fire. In semi-automatic, each shot restarts the engine and consumes a little more; The age of the battery also counts.
Advice for autonomy
- Quality LiPo or LiFe batteries better hold the load.
- Do not descend under 3.5 V per cell: use a tester or MOSFET with protection.
- In cold weather, keep the battery warm (inner pocket) until the game begins.
- A well-shamed engine consumes less.
- Provide a replacement battery for long parts.
- Store the LiPo at half load (3.8 V per cell) in a flame retardant bag.
Multiplication
Estimate the shooting rate based on your gear ratio and engine speed.
The report announced by the gear set manufacturer. 18,72:1 is that of an original gearbox.
The speed announced by the manufacturer, at the voltage of your battery. Original engine around 22,000 rpm.
Teeth removed at the beginning of the piston rack.
Generally 14 or 15.
- Unladen yield
- 24.9
- Theoretic, without spring
- Lost race
- 0 %
- Air swept less by the piston
Profile
Balanced
The original compromise: versatile, for most common springs.
Under the load of the spring, an engine runs at about 60% of its unladen speed: this is the estimate. The battery, shimming and spring hardness vary the result.
Guide to reporting
- High speed (12-16:1)
- CQB and support, M90 to M110 springs, recommended 11.1 V battery.
- High torque (22 to 32:1)
- DMR and sniper, springs M120 to M150 and more, essential "high twist" motor.
Cylinder / cannon
Check that the air volume of your cylinder is suitable for the length of your barrel.
Each tooth removed shortens the stroke by about 4.5 mm.
- Volume of cannon
- 10.4 cm³
- Volume of cylinder
- 18.9 cm³
- Ideal air volume
- 18.1 cm³
- 1.75 times the barrel volume
Too low a ratio loses power, too high a ratio wasted air and makes shooting louder. Calculation for one Gearbox V2/V3 cylinder (wrinkle 23.5 mm).
Electrical compatibility
Check that battery, motor, spring and wiring go together before mounting your replica.
Equivalences in joules with a ball of 0.20 g: an order of magnitude, depending on the cylinder, cannon and seal.
In AWG: the smaller the number, the bigger the wire. 18 AWG 0.8 mm2, 16 AWG 1.3 mm2, 14 AWG 2 mm2, 12 AWG 3.3 mm2.
- Compliant : TensionIdeal voltage for this motor
- To be monitored : SpringSpring near engine limit
- Compliant : WiringAdapted wire section
- Estimated current
- 19 A
- The wire supports about 20 A
Analysis based on typical values: the quality of the parts, the state of the Gearbox and the Shimming vary the actual current.
Compatibility Guide
Voltage and engine
- 7.4 V: ideal in high speed, possible in balanced
- 11,1 V: ideal in balanced and high torque
- 14.8 V: high torque only, with MOSFET
Spring and engine
- M90 to M110: a high speed engine is enough
- M110 to M130: balanced engine recommended
- M130 and more: high torque engine essential
Gas autonomy
Estimate the number of shots per loader and the gas to take for a game.
Gun: 10 to 20 mL; GBBR: 25 to 40 mL.
Typically 0.2 to 0.5 mL depending on charger, temperature, and blowback.
- Recharges
- 24
- Liquid gas
- 0.7 L
- For the whole game
Estimation: The actual consumption depends on the temperature, the wear of the joints and the adjustment of the blowback. In cold weather, plan significantly more gas.
Gas and temperature
See how the pressure of your gas, so the power, varies with the temperature: from northern winter to Mediterranean summer.
| Temperature | Pressure | vs 20 °C |
|---|---|---|
| -20 °C | 1.4 bar | 19 % |
| -10 °C | 2.4 bar | 33 % |
| 0 °C | 3.7 bar | 51 % |
| 10 °C | 5.3 bar | 73 % |
| 20 °C (closest to your temperature) | 7.3 bar | 100 % |
| 30 °C | 9.8 bar | 133 % |
| 40 °C | 12.7 bar | 173 % |
- Relative pressure
- 7.3 bar
- That of a manometer
- Absolute pressure
- 8.4 bar
- Relative + atmospheric pressure
Saturation vapour pressure from physical tables. The Green Gas is oil-additive propane: its curve follows that of propane. The more powerful gases sold in Europe are propane-based mixtures, slightly above this curve.

Tank autonomy
Estimate the number of shots and possible parts with a full of your HPA tank.
Often 80 to 120 psi (5.5 to 8.5 bar); higher for long range replicas, depending on the boundaries of the terrain.
Volume of chamber or nozzle at outlet pressure: 8 to 15 cm3 in general.
- Air by shot
- 78 cm³
- Returned to atmospheric pressure
- Usable air
- 155 L
- Above exit pressure
High estimate: Leaks, purges and cold are not modelled. Count 10 to 20% margin.
Fillings
Estimate how many times a bottle of diving or buffer can fill your HPA tank.
| Full | Pressure |
|---|---|
| 1 | 207 barFull |
| 2 | 207 barFull |
| 3 | 207 barFull |
| 4 | 207 barFull |
| 5 | 207 barFull |
| 6 | 207 barFull |
| 7 | 205 barPartial full |
| 8 | 193 barPartial full |
| 9 | 181 barPartial full |
| 10 | 170 barPartial full |
... and 3 full more.
Filling is done by balancing: the tank never fully reaches the pressure of the bottle, which drops at each fill. A full is counted only above 138 bar, and the calculation assumes an empty tank at the beginning.
Dwell time
Get a valve opening time range to start your chronograph settings.
- To be monitored : Starting point, not a measureThis calculator does not predict any speed. Always set the power to the chronograph, within the limits of your terrain.
